Occupational health and safety

WinWinD’s safety target in all operation is that no personal injury, environmental damage or material damage is caused during wind turbine planning, production, construction, installation and commissioning phases. The target of the safety function is to prevent accidents according to the ”zero accidents” thinking and to take care of the working conditions, working atmosphere, safety and environment. Reaching these targets is ensured by the action of everyone working for WinWinD.

We have implemented an occupational health and safety management system based on the standard OHSAS 18001, which enables us to systematically prevent accidents and improve working conditions. DNV has granted the certificate for our occupational health and safety management system in Europe in March 2010. WinWinD India is also implementing the management system and the target is to get a certificate in 2011.

The most important elements of our management system for ensuring continuous improvements are:

  • Training programs to ensure competence of all employees
  • Interactive communication between all personnel groups
  • Accountability of every director, manager and employee
  • Emergency preparedness for all our locations
  • Continuous risk assessments in all operations
  • Hazard and accident investigation and preventive actions planning and implementation
  • Challenging targets and meters and follow-up of them
  • Continuous safety inspections in all locations for noticing and correcting deviations in rules and instructions as soon as possible
  • Internal audits to see how our management system works and how we can improve it
  • Management reviews for monitoring the performance of the whole organization
